Second emergency landing of Tristar in a week added 13 July 2004
"It’s not our fault", this was the first reaction of commercial manager César Prince concerning the Tristar which had to
abruptly stop yesterday’s flight to Amsterdam right before take off because of motor problems. The 221 passengers were
able to disembark the aircraft safely. The incident was practically identical to the emergency stop made by the aircraft last
Tuesday at Schiphol. It was another blaze from the left motor, followed by a loud bang right at the moment the aircraft was
passing the airport at full speed, just seconds before take off, according to eye-witness John van den Berg, aircraft spotter.
Then the brakes squealed, 4 of the tires burst and the aircraft came to a stop just in time. The safety procedures work
perfectly. "Fire trucks from the fire department as well as from the airport arrived immediately", stated Van den Berg. "The
situation seemed to be totally under control." During the start up of his instrument panel the captain observed a problem with
the left motor. The motor had more vibrations than the allowed norm. Technicians of aircraft’s Portuguese owner as well
local DCA technicians are investigating the incident. The Tristar will remain at the end of the runway for the time being. This
will not cause any problems for the aircraft-traffic, announced Curaçao Airport Partners. This morning the board could not
give a specific date as to when the DCA would again be able to fly between Hato and Schiphol. "As soon as possible",
declared Prince, leaving the passengers stranded in Amsterdam and Curaçao in the dark. The Tristar which has been
grounded at Schiphol since last week is still undergoing repairs. It looks as if Air Luxor, where the DCA leases the aircrafts
for the mid-Atlantic route, doesn’t have other aircrafts available. In a press release DCA stated that a delegation would travel
to Portugal this week to discuss the matter of the 2 old Tristar-aircrafts and how to solve the problem. This morning Prince
announced that the meeting had already been planned for some time now. Yesterday in Miami a MD-80 of the DCA was also
grounded. "Motor problems", repeated Prince who believes the entire motor will have to be replaced. Meanwhile the DCA is
flying to the US with a smaller aircraft the DC-9. He expects the stranded passengers to be able to return to Curaçao today.

Aruba welcomes Varig inaugural flight added 9 July 2004
Prime Minister Nelson Oduber, Minister of Tourism Edison Briesen, Airport Director Peter Steinmetz and many more tourism
officials were all on hand at the Reina Beatrix Airport to welcome passengers on a MD11 from Brazil, which marked Varig
airline’s inaugural flight to the island. Varig’s Vice President Alberto Fayerman helped cut the red ribbon, which signified a
renewed and hopefully long-term commercial agreement between the Brazilian airline and Aruba. Brazilian journalists were
also on board the plane so they could cover the inaugural flight and then enjoy the sun, sand and sea to further promote the
island when they return back home. The weekly flight will depart every Tuesday from Sao Paulo, Brazil and make a stop in
Caracas before landing in Aruba. Source: Aruba Today

American company completes acquisition of Royal Aruban Airlines added 9 July 2004
Berkshire Collection Inc/Eagle Aero Holdings Corp. (Pink Sheets:BKRCF) has completed the negotiations of a 49% merger
bid of local based Royal Aruban Airlines (www.flyraa.com). The terms of the acquisition include funding for inaugural
operations of the airline and utilization of some restricted stock to collateralize long-term debt of the company. Stuart Carnie,
President of Eagle stated, "Royal Aruban Airlines has faced many difficulties in the recent months with regard to funding. We
are confident that with continued efforts and the ongoing support of the Aruban Government and Courts we will see inaugural
flights very quickly." He went on to say that, "The company believes with the existing moratorium placed on creditors, Royal
Aruban Airlines has the opportunity to begin operations and generate sufficient revenues to satisfy the debts incurred during
the developmental stages of the airline." Royal Aruban Airlines inaugural flights are slated to begin in the late summer with
flights from Ft Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport to Aruba and Curacao. Initially the airline will activate leases already
in place with sub service providers. Royal Aruban Airlines last year completed all of its applications with the Aruban Civil
Aviation Authority, Federal Aviation Administration, and U.S. Department of Transportation, in order to facilitate the inaugural
flights. Eagle Aero Holdings Corp. plans to acquire regional airline carriers and aviation related projects. The acquisition of
independent regional and medium haul international carriers that have existing contracts or pending contracts with major
airlines, will allow Eagle Aero Holdings Corp. to capitalize on the strengths of each carrier and eliminate weakness by
integrating a standard of operation throughout the system which will create increased value in each property. Currently there
are multiple properties that the company has identified that are available for acquisition. Additionally, there are developmental
projects that the company has identified that would further increase shareholder value and bottom line profits of the
company. With a strong background in the airline industry and the public markets, the management of Eagle Aero Holdings
Corp. has the ability to make the company a driving force in the United States and beyond. Source: Aruba Today

ORION AIR KEUZE
GENOEG

Zou je zeggen, op de
vliegroute
Kralendijk-Willemstad.
Was vroeger ALM - en
later Air ALM -
alleenheerser in de
lucht als het ging om
een reisje tussen
Bonaire en Curaçao,
tegenwoordig kan de
passagier kiezen uit
maar liefst drie
maatschappijen: naast
ALM's opvolger DCA,
ook uit Divi Divi Air en
BonairExel. Alle drie
voeren verscheidene
keren per dag vluchten
uit tussen de Flamingo
Airport en Hato. Toch
kiest de minister van
Koninkijksrelaties,
Thom de Graaf, ervoor
om zich te vervoeren
met een vierde
maatschappij: de
Koninklijke Marine.

Nou kan het zijn dat de
Nederlandse
bewindspersoon, van
wie bekend is dat hij
een man van de klok is
en graag volgens een
strak tijdschema werkt,
coûte que coûte wilde
voorkomen te laat in
Fort Amsterdam te
arriveren. Ook hij moet
bekend zijn met de
on-time performance
van sommige
vliegbedrijven.

Het kan ook zijn dat hij
per se niet wil kiezen,
want vliegen met DCA
of met BonairExel en
zelfs met Divi Divi kan
(verkeerd) politiek
worden uitgelegd. En
vandaag de dag moet
je met alles op je
hoede zijn. Voordat je
het weet heb je iets
verkeerds gezegd of
gedaan. En De Graaf
wil z'n werkbezoek
uiteraard niet met een
'misverstand' beginnen.

Toch zijn deze
verklaringen niet
overtuigend. En dat alle
vluchten van DCA, Divi
Divi en BonairExel
volgeboekt zouden zijn,
lijkt onwaarschijnlijk.
Evenmin dat het ticket
te duur is, want door de
concurrentie is de prijs
voor een enkeltje flink
gedaald en met zijn
sterke euro zal De
Graaf toch niet zó pichiri
zijn.

NEE, HET is duidelijk.
De Graaf wil hiermee
vooral aantonen dat de
Orions moeten blijven.
Zoals ze op Bonaire
zeggen 'Handen af van
onze BonairExel' en de
Curaçaoënaars 'Ban
defende nos DCA'
preken, zegt De Graaf
natuurlijk 'No mishi ku
nos Orionnan!'
