We currently have 2 virtual airlines based in Aruba which are certified by IVAO. Air Aruba Virtual - which is based on the former real world Air Aruba. The real airline opened in 1986 and ceased operations in November 2000. This airline played an important role in the development of the tourism industry of the island in the late 80's and during the 1990's. The virtual management team now focuses on keeping the dream alive and manages the VA as they think it could have been today. Tiara Air - Since Air Aruba shut down operations in the year 2000, Aruba has been looking for a new carrier to replace it. The road hasn't been easy but in 2006 Alejandro Muyale (whose family owned business has been performing Ground Handling Services at Aruba Airport for over 30 years) fullfilled his dream of applying for certification with the Department of Civil Aviation. Today they fly with 2 Shorts 360 to nearby islands and destinations in Venezuela. Tiara Virtual is also officially recognized by the real airline and operated by the Air Aruba Group. |
